Decor Revolution loves this Florida fiber artist's work! Ana Maria Mariani is originally from Venezuela, but her parents immigrated there from Italy. She chooses inspiration from the landscape of her childhood memories and wraps branches of wood with colored fabrics and yarns to create these beautiful blends of texture and color. I would love to commission her to do a piece for a client's project in the future. Imagine a piece like this in your space.

I’ve said many times that I always try to recommend repurposing existing quality furniture over purchasing new because it is better for our planet. Or finding a quality piece from a thrift store or estate sale to repurpose. But if I have a client that is looking for a specific style or just needs a piece of furniture to be built to fit either the space or them and their sit preferences, I always go with custom furniture.

There are many new laws that are important for your designer to know before designing your Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). Here is an overview of some that are important to know about. When presenting plans to the city planning department, it’s crucial to know what these laws are because the local restrictions are not necessarily up to date with the state laws. The state laws take precedent unless your home is in an historic district. You also need to plan your investment range accordingly based on knowing what to expect from the city. This is why it is so important to work with an experienced ADU designer.

Together with Jeanne Chung from Cozy Stylish Chic, I gave a presentation on ADUs at the Pasadena City Hall Council Town Hall on Friday, May 30, 2024. Jeanne spoke on Accessible Design for ADUs and I spoke on two topics. First on Common Mistakes to Avoid When Building an ADU and Second on ADU Laws in California. I will address the first topic in this post and write another one with the second topic because there are some new laws since the last time I have addressed this subject.
