Art That Tells a Story Through Texture

The piece in that cover image is amazing! The colors are sooo beautiful!

Here’s one of Ana’s pieces shown in a bedroom above the bed. I love the way she chose colors for her fabrics and yarns that pick up on the tones in the wood ceiling and window trim and also the lighter wood flooring. It is beautiful and perfect for the space!

This sculpture piece is called “Love” and stands 72” tall.

And this round wall hanging is called “Colorful Sunrise”.

Here’s a neutral one that has great texture and dimension.

I’ve also used my own fiber art in client’s homes in the past. Yes, I was a fiber artist in one of my past lives. A very long time ago when I was in college and right after, I dreamed of having a career in this field. I did actually have a couple of gallery shows and some private commissions but then ended up taking a full-time job as a textile designer here in Los Angeles. And then, of course, I transitioned into interior design later.

Here’s an image of one of my wall hangings that I used in a client’s home not long ago. It is made out of jute yarns and jute dipped in cotton rag paper that was then hand dyed in the different colors before woven into this fiber art piece.

Someday, when I retire from my interior design business, I will go back to weaving. I still have a big floor loom folded up in storage and many yarn bins that I collected over the years.

In the meantime, I love using fiber art in my interior design projects. It’s a great way to bring art, color and texture into a space all at once.
